Online Special: Sky Radebe | Unpublished Book

Radio Not | Skyto Poetry Movement
| 15*/14 | Sky Radebe | Unpublished Book

Accompanying words by Sky Radebe:
I was on a quest to write a book and decided to let a dream remain just that... just a dream! I left the country in the year 2008 and when I came back I decide that because I didn’t have enough content for the book let me take all the written work I have and put into one poem. It was hard work yet it was a lesson that if you let your dreams fade it will be hard to make something off them at a later stage. This poem has been critic a lot but people saying “it is too much to decipher at once” some say “my laziness paid off”. But if the lyrics had something to do – they labelled me as punch line artist although I would like to definer. My favourite part of the poem will forever be “Robert Mogube who is cutting the breadline before people have finished buttering there breads”

Kaffirman | Beat Master

Radio Not | Skyto Poetry Movement
| 14/14 | Kaffirman | Beat Master

Accompanying words by Sky Radebe:
Beatboxing is a form of vocal percussion primarily involving the art of producing drum beats, rhythm, and musical sounds using one's mouth, lips, tongue, and voice. It may also involve singing, vocal imitation of turntablism, and the simulation of horns, strings, and other musical instruments. Beatboxing today is connected with hip-hop culture, being one of "the elements", although it is not limited to hip-hop music. George discovered that he was able to create sounds from his mouth from the age of 14 and started practising and mastering the beat-boxing element of hip-hop. He didn’t win SA’s Got talent however replaced beat boxing on the map again. However we had our own George, Kaffirman a young man who isn’t afraid to call himself what the white’s oppression government called black people

Sky Radebe | Orange Farm

Radio Not | Skyto Poetry Movement
| 13/14 | Sky Radebe | Orange Farm

Accompanying words by Sky Radebe:
When writing this poem I had a question in mind more than a point to put across and that question was “Does the dust blind for life or is temporary?” I had a great opportunity to catch up with a young lady I knew from back in high school, and all the thoughts of yesterday come rushing back like rain with no warning on a sunny day and the one question I had in my mind was “Does the dust blind for life or is temporary?” because we both come from the dusty and muddy when it rains township called Orange Farm were tomorrow is not usually considered. But she made me see the changes that are possible in our country. Like the classic poem written by Tupac Shakur, the 22 year old Diana Mokwena is a perfect example of a rose that grew from a crack in the concrete. If people like me and her could make it why not tell people about this little place that most people haven’t heard about Orange Farm.

Sky Radebe ft. Glyphics | Hard Times

Radio Not | Skyto Poetry Movement
| 12/14 | Sky Radebe ft. Glyphics | Hard Times
Accompanying words by Sky Radebe:
An English writer and social critic Charles John Huffam Dickens wrote an amazing book called Hard Times. The book was an awesome read yet the title meant more to me and Hieroglyphics. We wanted to share our learnings and struggles, state of believe, perception of what poetry looks like in the hood and a fight the we have been fighting since birth. Hard Times is an awesome taste of what to poets who share common interests can cook up if given a chance to express themselves without out limit. Hieroglyphics has grown as an artist but more as poet and this poem gives you an opportunity to experience his growth fully and freely.
